The crossover diffuser/scatter plate allows the full absorption potential of the rear panel in the lower frequencies and simultaneously serves as a crossover that keeps 70% of life in the high-end active and dispersed around the room
In studio control rooms, Hi-Fi listening rooms, and home theaters, we often have these panels on the rear wall, back half of the side walls, or the front wall, to provide flexibility in the life of the room while treating closer first-reflection-points with full absorption. In larger rooms or studio tracking spaces these panels work great anywhere to improve consistency everywhere!
Features
woodfaced panels provide a crossover effect, allowing problematic low frequencies through to be absorbed by the Rockwool core while the diffusing and scattering effect of the holes sweetens the life in the room
professionally manufactured with a firm wooden frame and Rockwool mineral wool core, a highly effective sound absorber (NRC 1.05 out of 1). Higher NRC means fewer panels are needed to treat your space.
internal bracing provides superior strength and ease of installation with provided hardware
quality fabric wrap available in an assortment of colours
custom sizes and colours can be combined to fit your unique space and taste
handcrafted in Canada!

How Do They Differ From Standard Absorption?
Acoustic Fundamentals
The two different ways of handling sound in a room to make it more pleasant are absorption and diffusion. Both get rid of harsh reflections, standing waves, and flutter echo; absorbers do this by removing the sound and diffusers by scattering it. Absorption is the most affordable and most crucial, so we often start there.
Since highs are easy to treat and are even absorbed by carpets, curtains, couches, etc., you commonly get to a point in room treatment where you still have problems in the mids and low frequencies, but further broadband absorption will make the room feel over-deadened and lacking life.
Essentially, the room becomes dull and/or lacks a consistent frequency response.
The Solution
These diffuser/absorber panels have the same core material and handle the same range of frequencies as 3″ absorption panels.
The difference is that instead of absorbing all the frequencies. the specific slot sizes and placements in the front plate are designed around natural sound wave sizes to allow the problematic lower and low-mid frequencies through to be absorbed by the rear panel while gradually crossing over to diffuse and scatter the rest of the mids and the highs.
As a result, you have a panel that stabilizes sound reflections without making the room sound dull. And they look great to boot!
